Medical Help – National Health System:

We hope that you will not have any medical emergency while in this country, but should you need help, any privately insured person can consult any of the local doctors – many of whom speak your language. However, you will have to pay for the consultation out of your own pocket. Do remember to ask for a detailed and specified bill to enable you to make a claim with your insurance company.

 

In this case you will need a special form from your country (E-111) which entitles you to use the Centro de Salud available in almost every town and village. The doctors on duty will assist you and – if necessary - refer you to a ‘specialist’. Treatment is free of charge. Medication must be paid for
